System Configuration
Networked Control and Monitoring SystemOperators and Administrators interact with the system via the Networked Control and Monitoring System. The NCMS consists of up to 256 computer-based workstations connected to a Fileserver via a standard Local Area Network (LAN), in an advanced Client-Server architecture. Data Communication NetworkA data communication network is required in order for the NCMS to communicate with the ACUs. In Summit NT, a variety of data communication technologies are supported, including dial-up via PSTN, to provide cost-effective communication solutions regardless of the size or scope of the system installation. Autonomous Control Units(ACUs) are intelligent field panels which support the advanced design concept called distributed intelligence. The NCMS ultimately controls each ACU by sending it data and operating parameters. Otherwise, each ACU operates independently, providing security functions for its allocated portion of the facility according to the most recent data and parameters that it has been sent by the NCMS. Because of this independent operation, overall system speed, responsiveness, reliability and flexibility are greatly increased. |
